Oliver is one of the rising stars in Swedish winter sports. At the age of 21 he is already a four time Swedish Biathlon champion and has represented the Swedish National team at the Junior World Championships. In 2016 he was drafted to the National Team’s talent group giving him the opportunity to join the Swedish top elite.

What does a week of workout look for an elite Biathlete?
Normally I do two workout sessions a day Monday – Saturday. Sunday is rest day. A standard week I end up at roughly 20 hours of workout and about 400-500 rifle shots. I try to keep my training as well rounded as possible. Pre-season I do a lot of roller skiing, running, cycling and exercises to build up strength. During competition season the training is focused around cross country skiing and rifle shooting.

Tell us something that the average person would not know about the sport?
Well, actually most of the work is done during pre-season which is summer and fall. A lot of people look at Biathlon as a winter sport, but really it is during the summer we do most of the work. The difference between cross country skiing and biathlon is that the cross country skier races as fast as possible from start to goal. A biathlete need to start the race in a very controlled manner in order to stay sharp during rifle shooting. If you get to the shooting area all weary you will not be able to stay sharp. In today’s tough competition one missed shot during a race could be the difference between a medal and ending up outside the Winner’s stand[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] [zpcat] [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1507210189673{margin-right: 8px !important;margin-left: 8px !important;}”]
